REVOLUTION Bars Group has been awarded the Gold Standard for Environmental Best Practice by The Green Organisation, the international environmental group.
The award recognises the group’s achievement in reducing its energy usage by 19 per cent since 2017 in line with its vision to achieve net zero by 2030.
In partnership with net zero consultancy, Energise, the energy savings were achieved across both Scope 1 and 2 emissions – the Purchased Energy emissions which are under the organisation’s control – and include the move to a certified green energy provider and the retrofitting of new, energy efficient lighting and control technologies to minimise energy consumption.
The company, which has 67 bars across the UK, has also introduced the Zero Hero programme to ensure employee engagement in sustainability efforts. A sustainability champion is appointed from each location to drive greener operations within their bar, from recycling to working collaboratively with suppliers to encourage change across the supply chain.
Revolution has committed to science based targets as part of its commitment to the next phase of its sustainability strategy. It has started reporting its Scope 3 emissions– those emissions across its value chain which are not directly under its control, but can still contribute to its carbon footprint.
The company will also work with Energise to identify high-quality, internationally recognised environmental projects which also deliver social benefits to offset any remaining emissions across its value chain.
