Lighting is a critical part of any pool hall. Not only can the right lighting enhance the safety of a swimming pool, but it can also make a lifeguard’s job easier and cut facility costs.
That’s why EVA Optic designed direct lighting – an innovative approach where lights are fitted around the perimeter of a pool shining directly over the water. This position produces minimal reflection and glare on the surface of the pool.
With direct lighting, the light is distributed evenly and is more effective at penetrating through the water, creating higher light levels in the pool itself. This ensures that the lifeguard has exceptional visibility into the water and allows them to see more of the pool from where they are.
Traditionally, indirect lighting has been used in pool halls, but this form of lighting can create large reflective areas on the water, hampering a lifeguard’s view. The more reflective areas there are on a pool, the more lifeguards are needed to compensate, meaning higher staff costs for the facility.
Indirect lighting can also distract lifeguards when they are sitting on an elevated chair, as they are often looking directly into the light source, and the glare can seriously impact their vision. With EVA Optic direct lighting, the lights are positioned overhead, and because they use less power than older technology equivalents, there are no concentrated light spots.
EVA Optic lights are particularly beneficial where facilities use underwater cameras, as the enhanced lighting allows for clearer images and a much safer pool environment.
